Mike Verweij and Valentijn Driessen do not believe that Arne Slot will exchange Feyenoord for Ajax after one season. Many football fans think that the coach of the Rotterdam team is on the list in Amsterdam to succeed Erik ten Hag who is leaving for Manchester United, but the football journalists do not expect Slot to start the new season with the current leader in the Eredivisie.

“It has undoubtedly been thought of, but I don’t think they want to turn everything upside down again,” Verweij predicts on Friday. Kick-Offpodcast from The Telegraph† To back up his opinion: “Because they also saw what that caused when Steven Berghuis arrived. And the threats actually went much further than everyone had thought. Those were also death threats. I also don’t think you could hear that Arne Lock has to put on, if he would like to go to Ajax,” said the Ajax follower, who thinks that the Feyenoord coach will not make a domestic transfer.

Mike Verweij and Valentijn Driessen do not expect Arne Slot to start working for Ajax this summer.

“I think it is a much more logical way for him to go abroad after two, three, four years at Feyenoord,” Verweij continues his analysis. “And then you see Ronald Koeman and also Peter Bosz, who was technical director at Feyenoord, he could also just go to Ajax. Then that is a lot less sensitive. I think he (Slot, ed.) will become Ajax’s trainer once, but now that is very unwise. I just think it will be Alfred Schreuder,” the Ajax watcher refers to the coach of Club Brugge, who has a past as an assistant coach in Amsterdam and as a of the top candidates is designated to succeed Ten Hag.

Driessen does not completely agree with Verweij about the Feyenoord trainer. “I think Slot went on his bare knees (to Ajax, ed.). Trainers also have no patience. Next year it could be over. You can have a great season one season and next year the whole thing may fall apart , that could only be so. So then you always have to forge the iron when it is hot. And if a club is willing to pay for it, then Feyenoord might also have said: ‘We want to pick up those seven million’ But I don’t believe they will do it either, Ajax”, Driessen predicts that Slot will not report to the Johan Cruijff ArenA in the short term.
