Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig have both done well in the Bundesliga. In the fifth round, VfL Wolfsburg and Borussia Mönchengladbach were defeated 1-0 respectively. Marco Reus scored the only goal for Dortmund, while Timo Werner scored the winning goal for Leipzig on a pass from Xavi Simons.

Borussia Dortmund – VfL Wolfsburg 1-0
Donyell Malen had to settle for a place on Dortmund’s reserve bench for a change. The former PSV player was allowed to come on after more than an hour when the score was 0-0 and came into the team with Malen those Boruses finally taking the lead. It was Malen himself who started the attack with a pass to Julian Brandt, who managed to reach Reus with a low cross. The 34-year-old German was given too much space by the Wolfsburg defense and managed to score: 1-0. Dortmund had the upper hand throughout the match, but did not score more than one goal. 1-0 was therefore also the final score.

Borussia Mönchengladbach – RB Leipzig 0-1
At Leipzig there was a starting spot for a Dutch former PSV player in the form of Simons. The attacker, who was hired from Paris Saint-Germain, was allowed to participate in the Bundesliga from kick-off for the fifth time in a row and saw his team have a hard time with Gladbach. Both teams did not create any big chances for a long time. The spell was only broken fifteen minutes before the end, when Simons struck striker Werner in the depth with a tight through ball. The German attacker dribbled around Gladbach keeper Moritz Nicolas and scored well from a difficult angle: 0-1. Both teams would not score again after this, so Werner’s goal was crowned the winning one.
