Xavi Simons has explained the clause in his contract that will allow him to leave for Paris Saint-Germain in the summer of 2023. The existence of that possibility has been the subject of discussion recently, but Simons has now provided clarity himself. That can only be arranged if the PSV playmaker himself would like to return to Paris.

Simons came over from PSG on a free transfer last summer and partly because of this, there is nothing that binds him to the French. “It is true that I have a clause, but it is a clause between me and PSV and not with PSG,” the playmaker tells the club channels of the Eindhoven residents. “At the end of the season, if I want to go to PSG, I can leave for a certain amount.”

However, Simons does not expect it to come to that. “To be honest, it’s not in my head to move again. I’ve just settled here, I feel good and I think you can see that on the football field. In the end I came here on a free transfer, so then I I don’t owe anything to anyone. I’m the one who makes the decision and now I’m just being honest. I don’t think about leaving.”

Earlier it became clear that the fixed amount for which Simons could return to Paris is between ten and twelve million euros. Rik Elfrink knew that about it Eindhovens Dagblad to report. French media previously mentioned an amount of four million euros, but that does not seem to be based on anything. So far, the midfielder has made fifteen official appearances for PSV.
