Xavi wants to welcome a striking first acquisition as Barcelona trainer with Francisco Trincão, claims Record Wednesday. The Portuguese attacker is currently playing for Wolverhampton Wanderers on loan, but must return to Barca early if it is up to the coach.

Xavi indicated on Monday at his official presentation as a trainer at the Camp Nou that he wants to play with two wingers again with Barcelona. However, the Spanish coach is aware that the Catalans are thin on the wingers. Therefore, according to Xavi, Record asked Barça club officials to allow Trincão to return early from his loan spell to Wolverhampton in the Premier League.

The Portuguese sports newspaper points out that although Trincão has had little return this season from a purely statistical point of view, with only one assist and zero goals in nine official games, he does play regularly under coach Bruno Lage and has shown that he can play a man out. The Premier League club negotiated an option to buy last summer, amounting to thirty million euros. The English paid six million last summer for the rental deal of Trincão. Should Barcelona want to let its mercenary return early, it will have to compensate Wolverhampton financially.

Trincão was contracted by Barcelona for 31 million euros at the beginning of 2020 and made the switch from SC Braga six months later. Under Ronald Koeman, the attacker mainly had to make do with substitutions and scored 3 goals and 2 assists in 42 games. For the financially distressed Barcelona, the return of Trincão would not be a superfluous luxury, as Ousmane Dembélé, Pedri, Sergio Aguero and Martin Braithwaite among others, for various reasons, did not make any minutes in the first months of the season for various reasons.
