The saga surrounding Robert Lewandowski and his possible move to Barcelona has been given a new chapter. Not long after it became known that the Bayern Munich striker would have been notified by the Catalans of an increased offer on his person, Gerard Romero revealed images of him and Xavi, both walking into the same restaurant in Ibiza. Despite the two appearing with separate entourages, it sparked plenty of speculation inside and outside the Spanish media.

“The entrance of the two protagonists (Xavi and Lewandowski, ed.) at Lío, a restaurant in Ibiza!”, writes Barçelona watcher Romero on Wednesday with the shared images. Earlier in the day, transfer market expert Fabrizio Romano reported that the Catalans had already notified their number one striker target of an increased bid to free him in Germany. Reportedly, that amounts to a fixed amount of forty million euros plus more or less guaranteed bonuses. Bayern had previously rejected an offer of 37 million euros.

However, with Barcelona’s plans, supply and demand for both clubs still seem far apart. According to German media, Bayern wants to see at least sixty million euros for its top scorer, who is still with the club until mid-2023. The personal agreement Lewandowski reportedly already has with Barcelona is worth so little without ironing out this last fold.

Bayern’s technical director Hasan Salihadmidzic announced Lewandowski’s departure wish in mid-May. “Something in me has disappeared. I want to leave Bayern to experience more emotions in my life,” said the goal-getter’s text and explanation not much later, which he provided in a podcast from the Polish Onet Sports† Salihamidzic recently said he is counting on Lewandowski to ‘just’ return to the first training session of the new season, also in the light of ‘a good conversation’ with his agent Pini Zahavi. Bayern would have Sasa Kalajdzic (VfB Stuttgart) in mind to deal with a possible departure of Lewandowski, while Sadio Mane was already picked up at Liverpool to provide the Bavarian attack with new impetus.
