The clubs from Turkey had an excellent European evening. Trabzonspor was 2-1 too strong for Crvena Zvezda in the Europa League, Fenerbahçe scored a good point in the same tournament at Stade Rennes (2-2). In the Conference League, Basaksehir and Sivasspor beat Fiorentina (3-0) and CFJ Cluj (0-1), respectively. The most memorable moment came in the name of Fiorentina keeper Pierluigi Gollini, who thought he could keep up and just gave a goal to Basaksehir.

Istanbul Basaksehir – Fiorentina 3-0 (Conference League – Group A)
At Fiorentina, Sofyan Amrabat started the game against Basaksehir in the heart of the defense, while former Ajax player Bertrand Traoré and Mesut Ozil started on the bench for the home team. Fiorentina dominated in the first half, but failed to score. After the break, the chances turned and Basaksehir struck three times.

In the 57th minute the ball got stuck in the penalty area after a corner kick by the Turks, after which Serdar Gürler put his instep under the bouncing ball: 1-0. The Italians had to continue with ten men after a second yellow card for Jonathan Ikoné. The decision in the game came twenty minutes before the end, when Gollini received a difficult high pass. The Fiorentina goalie should have fired the ball away, but instead decided to hold up first on the thigh and then with the foot. Gürler stole the ball and pushed it into the empty goal: 2-0. In the last minute, Traoré finished the job by sliding in after a low cross from Patryk Szysz: 3-0. Once again, Gollini didn’t seem to go unpunished.

Stade Rennes – Fenerbahçe 2-2 (Europa League – Group B)
Stade Rennes and Fenerbahçe had won their first game last week, so they started this meeting as joint leaders. The visitors, with Ferdi Kadioglu on the bench for 90 minutes, seemed to take the lead midway through the first half via Irfan Can Kahveci, but the VAR canceled the goal due to offside. The French took the lead early in the second half, when Martin Terrier was sent deep and kept cool face to face with goalkeeper Altay Bayindir. A few minutes later the ball was in the net again: this time Lovro Majer got a deep ball, and he too remained calm in the finish: 2-0. Fenerbahçe did not leave it at that and fought back nicely. After exactly an hour of play, Kahveci dribbled in from the right to drive the ball into the short intersection: 2-1. Hamari Traoré dealt a blow to Kahveci in the final phase and saw red after a VAR intervention, so that Rennes had to continue with ten men. In injury time, Enner Valencia made it 2-2 with a penalty kick.

Trabzonspor – Crvena Zvezda 2-1 (Europa League – Group H)
Trabzonspor lost 3-2 to Ferencváros last week, but managed to beat Serbian Crvena Zvezda on Thursday evening. With Stefano Denswil in the starting line-up, the reigning Turkish national champion opened the score after more than fifteen minutes: a pass from Mahmoud Hassan, alias Trezeguet, reached the detached Marek Hamsik, who headed in the 1-0 while flying. Halfway through the second half, the score was doubled, when Trezeguet hit hard on a pass from Anastasios Bakasetas. The visitors were already with ten men, after two yellow cards for Kings Kangwa. A low shot by Veljko Nikolic (2-1) just before time made it exciting, but Trabzonspor took the three points. Naci Ünüvar and Dogucan Haspolat remained on the bench with the home team for the entire match.
