AC Milan grabbed the league title in the Serie A for the first time since 2011 after a thrilling end during the last round. Piolo retained the two-point lead over Internazionale. There was great disappointment with the arch-rival, who failed to prolong the 2020/21 Scudetto. The Milanese clubs, along with Juventus, seem to be the biggest title candidates during the coming season. In collaboration with Unibet, Voetbalzone looks ahead to the 2022/23 Serie A season.

Unlike arch-rival Inter, AC Milan barely moved in the transfer market in the first five weeks of the summer transfer window. Pioli did find a new offensive reinforcement in the transfer-free Divock Origi, but saw midfielder Franck Kessié leave for Barcelona for free. I Rossoneric have been heavily linked to the Club Brugge duo Noa Lang and Charles De Ketelaere in recent weeks. For the time being, we have to wait for Milan to continue. The club seems to be doing that with Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Rafael Leão. The pair played an important role in the championship. Partly because of this, Milan hopes to extend the contracts of the two attackers in the short term.

Last season was one to forget for Inter. I Nerazzurri were knocked out by Liverpool early in the Champions League, had to leave the league title to AC Milan as mentioned and lost the Coppa Italia final to Juventus. Trainer Simone Inzaghi has strengthened his selection early in the summer. For example, Joaquín Correa was definitively taken over from Lazio, while André Onana and Henrik Mkhitaryan came over on a free transfer from Ajax and AS Roma respectively. The (temporary) return of Romelu Lukaku, however, is the most striking. Partly thanks to the 26 goals of the Belgian, Inter won the national title two seasons ago. Lukaku then forced a transfer to Chelsea, but came to the Blues not out of the paint at all. At Inter, he hopes to flourish again next season.

Juventus disappointed last season. Trainer Massimiliano Allegri had a false start in the competition and narrowly secured fourth place in the final rounds of the Serie A, securing a Champions League ticket. Especially the defense of la Vecchia Signora is going to kick. Giorgio Chiellini left for Major League Soccer on a free transfer, while Matthijs de Ligt is well on his way to Bayern Munich. Gleison Bremer is mentioned as the successor of the international of the Dutch. Juve already managed to strengthen itself in the other lines. Where Paul Pogba has to provide the midfield with new impetus, Allegri found a new wing attacker in Ángel Di María.
