Real Madrid apparently got away well in the opening phase of the match against Las Palmas on Saturday afternoon. Rodrygo appeared to take a swipe at Álvaro Valles, the opponent's goalkeeper, in the fifth minute, but did not receive a red card. The attacker received a yellow card and it remained even after the VAR checked.

The incident took place after an attack by Real Madrid. This ended with a great opportunity for Rodrygo, but the 23-year-old Brazilian saw his effort turned away by Valles. The Spanish keeper was able to save the day by quickly getting out of his goal, leaving the score at 0-0.

After Rodrygo missed the chance, he remained in the enemy box. Here he received a body check from Valles, after which the winger made himself known.

Rodrygo lunged at the goalkeeper with his left arm, but did not hit him. Referee Cesar Soto Grado initially missed the moment, but eventually gave a yellow card to the Real Madrid attacker.

The VAR also assessed the incident. It was concluded that the yellow print was sufficient and so Rodrygo was allowed to remain on the field.

When the incident happened, the match was less than five minutes old. Nevertheless, Real Madrid already had a clear dominance, which continued in the remainder of the first half.

Rodrygo is joined at the front by Vinícius Júnior. The pair of Brazilians have formed Real Madrid's regular front line since the departure of Karim Benzema last summer.
