The situation of Georginio Wijnaldum at Paris Saint-Germain is becoming more hopeless by the day. L’Equipe knows to report on Sunday that the midfielder has requested the club management through his management to tear up his contract. However, the Parisians have refused that proposal, because the club wants to see a transfer fee of six million euros upon his departure. Wijnaldum is still stuck in the Parc des Princes until mid-2024.

Wijnaldum requested through his management to dissolve his contract, so that he is free to sign where he wants and PSG can save on his hefty salary. The Dutchman reportedly earns more than ten million euros in the French capital, making it possible that PSG is still willing to compromise at the end of the transfer window. Wijnaldum has played 38 games to date les Parisians, in which he recorded 3 goals and 3 assists. It also seems to be staying there. The the Dutch-international now trains separately from the group, together with Julian Draxler, Colin Dagba and, until recently, Kylian Mbappé.

Wijnaldum came over from Liverpool on a free transfer in the summer of 2021, where he was a valued force under manager Jürgen Klopp for many years. In Paris, however, Wijnaldum never managed to grow into a permanent force. The now 32-year-old from Rotterdam made 31 appearances in Ligue 1 in his first season, but he did not leave an indelible impression. Last season he was loaned to AS Roma, where he broke his tibia shortly after his arrival.

Wijnaldum missed the World Cup and came to some matches in the second half of the season, but he was not indispensable for José Mourinho either. Roma therefore decided not to exercise the purchase option in his contract, so Wijnaldum returned to Paris. However, he does not seem to have any future there. PSG no longer counts on Wijnaldum, but reportedly wants to earn a transfer fee from him. According to L’Equipe asks the club six million euros.
