Mats Wieffer scared the Feyenoord and the Dutch legion on Monday evening. The controlling midfielder was kicked full on the ankle by Gibraltar player Liam Walker in a duel for the ball, who received a direct red card. Wieffer’s joint collapsed double and the Feyenoord player cried out in pain. Wieffer seemed to cause some panic among his fellow players. Xavi Simons in particular explicitly asked for quick care.

Wieffer was able to continue the game after treatment, albeit limping at first. The controller was replaced a few minutes later, possibly as a precaution. It is certainly not easy for Feyenoord during the international match period. On Friday, Lutsharel Geertruida suffered a hamstring injury in the European Championship qualifier of the Netherlands against France (4-0 loss), while Austrian Gernot Trauner against Azerbaijan (4-1 win) on Friday evening also had to leave the field early. It is unknown what Trauner is currently suffering from, but the defender will not play against Estonia on Monday.
