West Ham United failed to win in the Premier League for the fourth time in the last five games on Saturday. David Moyes’ team was unable to convince Brighton & Hove Albion and was lucky with Said Benrahma’s late equalizer: 1-1. West Ham United can definitely forget a Champions League ticket in sixth place and must now also fear for its ticket for the Europa League. Tottenham Hotspur can take over that on Sunday by winning at Wolverhampton Wanderers, while Everton can also draw in points.

Brighton, where Joël Veltman and Davy Pröpper were missing due to injuries, was toothless in the first half and had to limit itself to defending. West Ham itself became dangerous several times, but was unlucky in the completion. Craig Dawson aimed wide from a corner kick at the far post, while Michail Antonio didn’t get his foot enough behind a cross from Aaron Cresswell. The best two chances were in the absolute final phase for Pablo Fornals, who saw both his bets blocked by a defender at the last minute.

After the break, Brighton suddenly showed attacking intentions and two good opportunities followed. Alireza Jahanbakhsh saw his cross ricochet on the feet of goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski, where the former AZ attacker might have been better off shooting himself. Moments later, Jahanbakhsh escaped the offside trap, but shot in front. Dawson headed just wide on behalf of West Ham in the final phase and Brighton struck on the other side. Danny Welbeck was launched by Percy Tau and handled Fabianski: 1-0. Substitute Benrahma saved a point for West Ham by picking up a falling ball and placing it in from the edge of the penalty area: 1-1.
