A West Ham United supporter lost a finger on Thursday evening when he wanted to celebrate a goal from his club while visiting RC Genk, writes the Sun. The English came to visit RC Genk with 1-2 ahead, after which it was for the supporter of The Hammers went completely wrong. The man caught his finger behind the fence, after which it fell to the ground outside the box.

The tragic incident happened ten minutes before the end, when Saïd Benrahma gave his team a 1-2 lead. In the end, Tomás Soucek gave Genk a point in the final minute with an own goal. It turned out to be a terrible night for the West Ham United fan, as he lost his finger ten minutes before the equaliser after getting caught behind the fence. Video images, currently circulating on the internet, show a flight attendant picking up his finger from the floor and placing it on the fence. The finger fell outside the box with the away supporters on the ground.

The footage shows fellow supporters yelling at the stewards to put their finger in the ice. According to the Sun some fans claimed it took up to ten minutes for the stewards to take action. The man was immediately removed from the profession to receive medical care. The victim is not visible in the images.
