Wesley Sneijder recently flew to Brazil to collect promised money, it is known RTV Utrecht to report on Wednesday. The DHSC, which is in financial trouble, would receive at least 130,000 euros from a Brazilian lender, but the amateur club has still not received that amount. In a frantic attempt to collect the amount, Sneijder boarded the plane himself, but that action had no effect.

Recently made it Algemeen Dagblad It is known that the Utrecht DHSC is in major financial problems. Partly due to poverty in the Ondiep district, the club's contribution arrears increased enormously. Made earlier RTV Utrecht It is already known that it concerns approximately 20,000 euros. The club's total debt amounts to A.D even 150,000 to 200,000 euros.

In October 2022, DHSC raised no less than 170,000 euros at a benefit evening to combat poverty within the association. The aim was, among other things, to support the payment of contributions by members.

It now appears that a large part of the promised benefit income never reached the club board. Part of that budgeted income is still in Brazil.

“A major sponsor from Brazil had promised around 130,000 euros and we never received that money,” says DHSC spokesperson Bert van Lienden in conversation with the RTV Utrecht. “Wesley Sneijder went to Brazil to get it, but that didn't work out.”

The chairman of Stichting Ondiep and former chairman of DHSC, Harry Lulofs, says that the Utrecht club should not always rely on Sneijder.

“The club cannot always depend on the money infusion from Wesley or the Sport Ondiep foundation. It is assumed that the foundation always gives all the money to DHSC, but we can support several charities. The Johan Cruijff Foundation does not just give money to Ajax,” said Lulofs.
