Wout Weghorst played an important role in TSG Hoffenheim's 3-1 win over FC Augsburg on Sunday. The Dutch international scored the opening goal and scored his first competition goal since January 20. He also provided the assist for the 2-0. Thanks to the victory, number eight Hoffenheim is equal in points with Augsburg, which is one place higher based on goal difference.

Particularities:

Weghorst opened the score after more than fifteen minutes of play. Ex-Ajax player Florian Grillitsch delivered an excellent deep ball to Pavel Kaderábek, who in turn found Weghorst at the far post: 1-0. It was Weghorst's sixth competition goal of the season.

Three minutes later the score was 2-0 and again Weghorst played an important role. The attacker laid it ready for Andrej Kramaric, who found the far corner with a precise shot from about eighteen meters.

Augsburg fought back into the match after the break and found the tying goal through Ermedin Demirovic, who tapped in from close range. However, the Bavarian team was unable to push through and had to concede the 3-1 just before the end. Ihlas Bebou rammed high into the short corner.
