Everton wants Wout Weghorst to have a new chance in the Premier League, the English reports talkSPORT. The thirty-year-old striker has to leave Manchester United, which does not intend to exercise the option to buy in his lease, and will in principle return to Burnley, which has been promoted again. Everton barely managed to maintain itself on the last day and could use extra goals.

Weghorst was initially loaned to Besiktas this season and had a successful period there. In January, Manchester United decided at the insistence of Erik ten Hag to temporarily bring the attacker to England. Weghorst started as a basic player, but hardly managed to score and soon ended up on the bench. In total he has two goals, none in the Premier League, in 31 appearances for Man United. Weghorst won the Carabao Cup with the club at the end of February.

Burnley rented out Weghorst twice this season, because the 21-time the Dutch international was not hungry for the Championship. Now the Clarets thanks to the championship immediately returning to the highest level, Weghorst can also go to Turf Moor for rehabilitation in the Premier League. So far, the former striker of AZ and Heracles Almelo has played twenty times for Burnley in the top English league, in which he produced two goals and three assists.

Weghorst played his last game for Manchester United on Saturday. As a substitute, the striker could not prevent the FA Cup final from falling prey to Manchester City, who won 2-1. Weghorst got it on Sunday the Guardian. “His clumsy substitution perfectly demonstrates the gap the top club has to bridge. The striker came within the lines to equalize, but only underlined how big the difference has become. Moving a large and unwieldy object like Weghorst from the bank to a football field is no easy task.”
