Roda JC was forced to put an end to the practice match against RSC Anderlecht. The club from the Kitchen Champion Division would face the Belgian top club next Saturday in a friendly match, but sees the game canceled by order of the local triangle. The club says it is ‘surprised and disappointed’, but don’t let it go.

The practice match with Anderlecht was supposed to be the third crash test in the preparation for Jurgen Streppel’s team. Last Friday, the Limburgers already competed against the amateurs of HAC from Kerkrade (with a 13-0 win). On Tuesday evening, RKTSV won 22-1. The fact that the duel with Anderlecht has been drawn is causing indignation in the Parkstad Limburg Stadium. “To our great regret, the local triangle has banned next Saturday’s game. This against all expectations and previous communication,” reads a response.

“We are surprised and especially disappointed about this. We were really looking forward to this top match, in our own home, in front of our audience. With this competition we wanted to put our loyal season ticket holders in the spotlight. Unfortunately, this is now impossible for us. However, do not put us off. We promise our season ticket holders that we will come up with a suitable alternative. I hope you can show some understanding for this, because this news has also taken us by surprise,” said technical director Jordens Peters.

It is the second time that a duel between a Dutch club and a Belgian opponent has been cancelled. Earlier there was a line through the match between Ajax and KAA Gent. Mayor Mathias De Clercq of Ghent came to that decision after an extensive safety analysis. “The chance is too great that the hard core of Ajax will come here to seek a confrontation with Ghent and other supporters”, De Clercq said. The last news† “Based on an extensive risk analysis by the security services, we have decided to ban the competition.”
