The regular season in the Eredivisie is over. Feyenoord are champions, PSV has secured a place in the preliminary round of the Champions League and it was a disappointing year for Ajax in particular. Football zone has always put together a Team of the Week in recent weeks and is now looking for the Team of the Year. Vote for the player you thought was the best this season in today’s search for the best right centre-back.

Football zone is looking for eleven players and a trainer for the Team of the Year. Your help is needed for this, because the vote of the community largely determines the outcome. There are five nominations for each position, which can be voted on. To be eligible for nomination, a player must have played at least nineteen full games (1710 playing minutes). You can vote in the poll at the bottom of this article and under our post on Instagram. The percentage of votes is the number of points the player gets from the audience. The editors also vote, and the percentage that rolls out is the number of points that are added to the public points. This then yields a total score. So your vote counts for fifty percent!

Lutsharel Geertruida (Feyenoord)
Lutsharel Geertruida was the jack-of-all-trades in defense at Feyenoord this season. Is the right back injured? No problem, then play Lutsha over there. Can Gernot Trauner not participate? Great, then Geertruida can be found in the center. It is no surprise that he played in 30 of the 34 league games and often made an unpassable impression. In addition, Geertruida also made the crucial 2-3 on a visit to Ajax with the head, a goal that Feyenoord fans will forever be grateful for.

Pantelis Hatzidiakos (AZ)
AZ’s defense was often shuffled this season due to injuries to various players, but it still had a constant factor. Pantelis Hatzidiakos missed (due to a suspension) only one match in the Eredivisie this season and again this year proved to be a very reliable force in the Alkmaar rearguard. The Rhodes-born mandekker also delivered four assists, a remarkably high number for a center defender, and was also allowed to call himself a permanent fixture in the Greek national team due to his performances. A great season for Pants.

Xavier Mbuyamba (FC Volendam)
When Carel Eiting takes a corner, Xavier Mbuyamba is on edge. The defender of FC Volendam, who was born in Maastricht, headed in five corner kicks from his playmaker this season and thus proved to be a very dangerous weapon for coach Wim Jonk’s team. In addition, Mbuyamba was also an indispensable player in the rear, where he helped to ensure that Volendam maintained itself in the Eredivisie without too many problems in his 28 games played. A nomination for the Team of the Year is a compliment to Mbuyamba’s excellent year.

André Ramalho (PSV)
Admittedly, against sc Heerenveen (3-3), the Brazilian with the lush hair did not look too good. However, Ramalho has also proven this season that he, together with Jarrad Branthwaite, can provide peace in the rear of PSV. Ramalho won the competition against Armando Obispo and Jordan Teze and eventually played 28 league games for the team from Eindhoven, in which he only picked up two yellow cards. The 31-year-old mandekker still has a contract for one season with PSV, so where will his future lie?

Jurrien Timber (Ajax)
It was not Ajax’s season, and yet Jurriën Timber deserves a nomination for a spot in the Team of the Year. The defender got four different companions in the heart of the Amsterdam defense throughout the season and was always the silent and stable force. In addition, the figures show how important Timber was for the build-up of Ajax. He sent 2500 successful passes, more than 500 more than Orkun Kökçü, for example, and recorded a pass accuracy of 92 percent. No one with as many games played as Timber did that either.
