PEC Zwolle booked the first league win of the season on Saturday evening by beating Heracles Almelo 1-0 at home. Bram van Polen shot the winning team against the ropes from the penalty spot in injury time. Twenty minutes before the end, Rai Vloet failed to give the visitors the lead from eleven meters by pinning a panenka over the goal. Due to the victory, PEC remains last in the Eredivisie with four points, while Heracles occupies twelfth place.

PEC trainer Art Langeler indicated for the rest that his team was going to storm, but both teams presented the supporters in the MAC3PARK Stadium with a very lackluster first half. With the home team, Gervane Kastaneer could count on a basic place, while Navajo Bakbord started for the first time this season at Heracles. PEC showed itself for the first time after twenty minutes of play. Kastaneer won his duel physically, after which the cross from the attacker could not be managed by Daishawn Redan.

After more than half an hour of play, Dean Huiberts tried it with a hard shot from a distance, but the midfielder shot straight at Heracles goalkeeper Janis Blaswich. The people of Zwolle handed out a small pinprick via Redan on the stroke of half-time. The team of trainer Frank Wormuth shot out of the starting blocks in the second act. Kostas Lamprou, however, had an answer to a free kick by Kaj Sierhuis and prevented a quick goal from the visitors. The match was immediately fired up. With one hour on the clock, Kastaneer had the perfect opportunity to break the spell on behalf of PEC. The attacker just failed to nod in a corner.

Heracles thought he would take the lead halfway through the second half. By coincidence, the ball came at the feet of Giacomo Quagliata, after which Sierhuis was able to walk in from close by after half intervention by Lamprou. However, Quagliata was narrowly sidelined, so that the Almelose party did not take place. Twenty minutes before the end, Heracles still had the perfect opportunity to take the lead. Delano Burgzorg was knocked out by Ryan Koolwijk, after which referee Marc Nagtegaal pointed decisively to the spot. Rai Vloet, however, failed to give the visitors the lead by putting a panenka over the goal.

The match then appeared to be heading for a goalless draw, but in the final phase PEC had the ideal opportunity to book the first win of the season. Huiberts was tapped in the penalty area by Mats Knoester, after which referee Nagtegaal put the ball on the spot after intervention by the VAR Ingmar Oostrom. Van Polen shot hard and impeccably in and brought the PEC supporters into ecstasy in injury time: 1-0.
