Oihan Sancet may have gotten himself into trouble. According to the Basque newspaper deia the car of the Athletic Club midfielder went off the road early on Sunday morning and was found damaged on the verge near Iruñea, Pamplona. Sancet is said to have run away when the local police, la Policia Foralarrived at the scene of the accident. No injuries were found.
In the night from Saturday to Sunday, the police arrived at the damaged car around 1.20 am, where no occupants were found. Just before arrival, the owner of the car, Sancet, is said to have fled from the agents. In addition to the fact that the vehicle is registered in his name, the officers on duty would also have recognized Sancet. No one was injured in the accident, but the car and ‘municipal objects’ did sustain significant damage.
The 21-year-old offensive midfielder has reportedly shrugged off police, making it impossible to confirm his identity on the spot. In the meantime, however, Sancet has already received a phone call with the request to report to the station. He will have to make a statement for fleeing and for the fact that his car was found badly damaged. Athletic has not yet responded to the coverage of the Basque media.
Sancet is with los Leones this season has become one of the permanent forces. With four goals in 17 appearances, the attacking midfielder is second on the club’s top scorers list, behind Iñaki Williams. At the beginning of January, the number 8 of Athletic performed a hat-trick in the duel with Osasuna (1-3); a round before that he scored the only Basque goal in the match against Real Madrid (1-2).
