Luis Enrique delivered a tease to the French news on Saturday afternoon. To his own surprise, the coach of Paris Saint-Germain saw only a small group of journalists attending the final press conference before the match against Stade Brest and could not resist playfully mocking them.

Paris Saint-Germain seems to have finally found its good form after a mixed start to the season. Three of the last four league matches were won (one drew) and in the Champions League AC Milan was sent home with a 3-0 defeat.

Nevertheless, interest in Enrique’s team is decreasing, as the Spaniard noticed during the press conference on Saturday. To his own surprise, only a small group of journalists had taken the trouble to travel to the Parc des Princes for the press moment prior to the away match against Stade Brest.

Enrique responded to the meager turnout with an apparently mischievous look. “My God, these are the only journalists left. What is all this? How pathetic! I thought French journalists were tougher,” he said. Enrique’s comment was met with jeers from the journalists present.

Enrique, who does not always live in good harmony with the French media, emphasized during the press conference the importance of the recent victories over Milan, Stade Rennes and RC Strasbourg. The Spanish coach noted that his team has visibly gained confidence.

PSG is in third place in Ligue 1 after nine games. With a win over Brest, Enrique’s team will (temporarily) leapfrog AS Monaco. The Monegasques, who also played nine times, will visit Lille OSC later in the day. OGC Nice is the proud leader in Ligue 1.
