John van 't Schip is full of praise for Kristian Hlynsson. The twenty-year-old Ajax player is a permanent fixture in the Amsterdam midfield under the coach. On Saturday evening he was also good for a goal against Heracles Almelo (2-4 win): the Icelander scored the last goal. After the match, Van 't Schip went opposite ESPN into Hlynsson's game.

Van 't Schip thought Ajax did not always play well against Heracles. “In the first half I thought we were too slow, we lost the ball unnecessarily in midfield,” he tells reporter Hélène Hendriks.

“In the second half there was a good phase in which we played good football and scored good goals. Hato's ball to Brobbey was beautiful, good goal from Berghuis… And also from little Kristian again, a great goal. And in addition there was the football is good at times. However, the gaps are still large, and the entire team needs to defend better.”

Hendriks then wants to talk about Hlynsson. “'That little Hlynsson', that's what he trains on, isn't he?”, she refers to the placed ball with which Hlynsson put the final score on the board.

Van 't Schip: “Last week (against RKC, ed.) he did it with the right, now he did it with the left. And I thought he played a very good match, he is a smart player.”

“He is well positioned between the lines and also forms a good pair with Tristan (Gooijer, ed.) today. He had a difficult period just before the winter break, in which he was a bit tired, but he is on his way back,” concludes Van 't Schip.

Hendriks then discusses Hlynsson's nickname again. “Little Kris,” she says to Van 't Schip with a smile. “Good nickname.”
