PSV’s line-up for the TOTO KNVB Cup match against FC Emmen has been announced. Patrick van Aanholt makes his basic debut after a strong raid against Feyenoord (2-2). Thorgan Hazard, the other signing, will start on the bench again. André Ramalho is in the base because of the suspension of Armando Obispo. It is gratifying for PSV that Olivier Boscagli is back on the bench after ten months of injury.

On January 24, Emmen caused a resounding surprise in the Eredivisie by beating PSV 1-0 at home. Nobody at PSV thinks that Emmen can be eliminated at half strength on Wednesday evening. “That seems clear to me”, said Ruud van Nistelrooij about this last Tuesday. The coach can therefore again use Boscagli. However, Van Nistelrooij does not expect any miracles from the born Monegask. “Experience shows that it takes another three or four months before you are completely back in the rhythm. I also had an injury myself and I know that it takes a while. You can be important for your team again during that period.”

A substitution takes place on target. Joël Drommel plays instead of number one Walter Benítez. Drommel made an obvious mistake in the previous cup match at Sparta Rotterdam (1-2 win), although the goalie also made a brilliant save in the final phase. In defense, Van Nistelrooij has to move through injuries and suspensions. Jordan Teze is ‘just’ right back. André Ramalho comes into the team for the suspended Obispo. Next to him is Jarrad Branthwaite. Mwene, who was injured against Feyenoord last Sunday, will be replaced at left back by Van Aanholt. Mauro Júnior is on the bench after two games of suspension.

Nothing changes in midfield, so that Érick Gutiérrez starts again on the bench. The controlling diaphragm is formed by Ibrahim Sangaré and Joey Veerman, while Guus Til is the number 10. The injured Anwar El Ghazi is missing in the front, who is replaced by Johan Bakayoko, just like in De Kuip. Hazard, who scored as a substitute on his debut against Feyenoord, is again on the bench. Luuk de Jong is the striker and Xavi Simons is the third attacker in Van Nistelrooij’s starting eleven. The match in the Philips Stadium will be refereed by referee Ingmar Oostrom. The kick-off will take place at 6.45 PM and the game can be followed live via ESPN 1.

The position of PSV: damn; Teze, Ramalho, Branthwaite, Van Aanholt; Sangaré, Til, Veerman; Bakayoko, De Jong, Simons.

FC Emmen’s line-up: Van der Hart; Bouchouari, Te Wierik, Araujo, Dirksen; Fox, Veendorp, Flat; Bernadou, Diemers, Assehnoun.
