Ruud van Nistelrooij has announced PSV’s line-up for the Europa League match against Sevilla. Ibrahim Sangaré has not proved fit enough to start in the base. The midfielder was not available against FC Utrecht due to illness and will be replaced against Sevilla by Érick Gutiérrez. Jordan Teze is also victimized by Van Nistelrooij. The game starts at 6:45 p.m. and can be seen on Veronica and ESPN 2.

It is no surprise that Walter Benítez is under the Eindhoven bar. Phillipp Mwene starts as right back, as Van Nistelrooij chooses to pass Teze. The defense is completed by André Ramalho, Jarrad Branthwaite and Patrick van Aanholt. Gutiérrez replaces Sangaré, who has returned from the flu, and forms a midfield with Joey Veerman and Guus Til. Van Nistelrooij makes room for Johan Bakayoko, Luuk de Jong and Xavi Simons at the forefront.

PSV is in the corner where the blows fall. After the 3-0 defeat in the first leg against Sevilla, Van Nistelrooij’s team did not get further than a 2-2 draw at FC Utrecht on Sunday. Windfall for the people of Eindhoven is the return of Sangaré in the match selection, and Van Nistelrooij. That pair was still missing in Utrecht because of the flu. The disappointment is the absence of the injured Anwar El Ghazi, Fodé Fofana, Sávio and Thorgan Hazard. Although the chance seems very small that PSV will reach the next round, the past proves that it is not impossible. In the 2013/14 season, for example, Valencia brushed off a 3-0 defeat against FC Basel by beating the Swiss 5-0 in Mestalla after extra time.

Just like PSV, Sevilla also has to contend with the necessary absentees. For example, Nemanja Gudelj and Erik Lamela are suspended, Pape Gueye is not allowed to play and Karim Rekik, Loïs Badé, Marcão and Papu Gómez are injured. Ivan Rakitic was ill this week, but boarded a plane to Eindhoven. The game comes too early for Jesús Corona, who has recovered from an injury. The Philips Stadium will always have a special place in Sevillian hearts. In 2006, Sevilla won the UEFA Cup in that stadium for the first time in its history, beating Middlesbrough 4-0. Jesús Navas was the basic player in that match and now, seventeen years later, the now 37-year-old right wing defender is still there. Only six players have played more minutes this season Los Blanquirrojos.

Line-up PSV: Benitez; Mwene, Ramalho, Branthwaite, Van Aanholt; Til, Veerman, Gutiérrez; Bakayoko, De Jong, Simons.

Setup Seville: Bounou; Jesus Navas, Nianzou, Fernando, Alex Telles, Acuna; Oliver Torres, Jordan, Rakitic, Bryan Gil; En-Nesyri.
