A few hours after the lost Classic against Feyenoord (2-3), Edwin van der Sar had to deal with drunk Ajax fans in the parking lot. That reports The Telegraph. They harassed the general manager and his family and, without appearing threatening, remained standing around the Van der Sar family. Security guards kicked the group out of the stadium.

According to The Telegraph it concerned four skybox visitors, who made a particularly drunk impression and were on their way to a taxi in the parking lot of the Johan Cruijff ArenA. They ran into Van der Sar and his family there and harassed him there. Reportedly, Ajax’s general manager was snapped at quickly bringing back Marc Overmars to act as a technical man. Overmars left in February 2022 because of transgressive behavior. Eventually, security guards were on site and showed the foursome the door.

The morning newspaper writes that the incident fits the ‘frustration’ that is currently prevailing in the Johan Cruijff ArenA. The defeat against Feyenoord means that the gap with the arch-rival has increased to six points, while the team from Rotterdam also has a much simpler program. There are still eight rounds to go in the Eredivisie, but the chance that Ajax can still take the lead seems nil. That bothers Van der Sar, but also trainer John Heitinga and the group of players.

Steven Berghuis clearly expressed that feeling after the Classic. He seems to know that Ajax needs a miracle to win national title number 37 this season. “If you are realistic with the program of both teams, it will be very difficult to overtake, but you never know,” said the Apeldoorner in conversation with Hans Kraay junior van ESPN. “We will do everything we can to keep winning our matches. Feyenoord is also doing well. Sometimes you also give the credits to the opponents. Congratulations.”
