The Dutch talents Joshua Zirkzee and Lutsharel Geertruida have no chance to win the Golden Boy Award. The players from Bayern Munich and Feyenoord respectively were among the last sixty contenders, but they are not among the last forty talents to have a chance of winning the prestigious Tuttosport prize. With Mitchel Bakker, Ryan Gravenberch, Myron Boadu and Mohamed Ihattaren four Dutchmen still have a chance.

The Dutch talents of Paris Saint-Germain, Ajax, AZ and PSV are among the last forty contenders. Also American international Sergiño Dest can still hope for the Golden Boy Award, while Ajax teammate Mohammed Kudus has also dropped out. The competition is fierce. Among the remaining players are Eduardo Camavinga (Stade Rennes), Alphonso Davies (Bayern Munich), Rodrygo (Real Madrid), Ansu Fati (Barcelona), Phil Foden (Manchester City), Mason Greenwood (Manchester United), Erling Haaland (Borussia Dortmund), Callum Hudson-Odoi (Chelsea), Bukayo Saka (Arsenal), Jadon Sancho (Borussia Dortmund), Ferrán Torres (Manchester City), Dejan Kulusevski (Juventus), Rayan Cherki (Olympique Lyon) and Vinícius Júnior (Real Madrid).

Earlier Sepp van den Berg (Liverpool), Lassina Traoré (Ajax), Yukinari Sugawara (AZ) and Claudio Gomes (PSV) had already dropped out. Last year the Golden Boy Award was won by João Félix of Atlético Madrid. A year earlier the honour was given to Juventus defender Matthijs de Ligt, at that time still active for Ajax. In 2017 Kylian Mbappé of Paris Saint-Germain won the prize. Rafael van der Vaart was the first player to become Golden Boy in 2003; he and De Ligt are the only Dutchmen who ever won the prize.
