Feyenoord and PSV should become part of a new Super League, it is claimed Mundo Deportivo. A number of European top clubs are working in the background to get the controversial competition off the ground and are also looking at Dutch clubs. Ajax is not mentioned.

The plans to form a special Super League were immediately rejected by fans, media and clubs worldwide after the announcement of the project in 2021. However, the initiators are not sitting still and two years later they still plan to roll out their plans, albeit in a slightly different form.

Mundo Deportivo reports that contact has been made with no fewer than sixty clubs in one year. Initially, the new league will consist of clubs with European backgrounds and good track records. Clubs with a rich history, which no longer belong to the absolute world top. Anderlecht and Red Star Belgrade are also mentioned.

The new Super League is seen as a short-term solution to the financial problems of FC Barcelona, one of the initiators of the project. Real Madrid also has a big finger in the pie. Participating clubs can continue to participate in the national competition and the cup.

The project involves a huge amount of money. Investors pay no less than fifteen billion. The intention is that Barcelona and Real Madrid should be helped out of their financial worries in one fell swoop. Also the situation the Royal is worrying, although this does not seem to be known to the general public.

The club from the Spanish capital is in urgent need of a financial injection. If this project does not go ahead for whatever reason, chairman Florentino Perez will look for other ways to provide the club with a financial boost.

Criticism
After worldwide criticism, Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City, Manchester United, Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur, Atlético Madrid, AC Milan and Internazionale previously withdrew from the project. Real Madrid, Barcelona and Juventus are still in favor of the Super League.

The Super League organization hopes that the change will deter UEFA and win over the football world and the clubs that are affiliated with the European Football Association. On Thursday, the European Court of Justice will decide whether UEFA will have the exclusive right to organize competitions.
