Joshua Brenet is closing the door at FC Twente after this season. The Enschede club announces that the right back (30) will not extend his expiring contract, because he wants to make a move. Twente does break open the commitments of Michal Sadilek, Alec van Hoorenbeeck and Przemyslaw Tyton, among others. The club is still in discussions with Ricky van Wolfswinkel.

Traditionally, a lot of contract news takes place in Dutch professional football at the end of March. According to labor law, expiring agreements must be formally terminated before April 1.

The message from Twente can also be seen in that light. The current number three in the Eredivisie will communicate about eight players on Saturday.

Among them is Brenet, who will definitely leave the Grolsch Veste after two and a half seasons. The full-back could have done that at an earlier stage.

Last summer, Feyenoord had their eye on him, as did several Premier League clubs and top clubs from Turkey. His childhood sweetheart PSV also showed interest a year earlier.

However, a transfer never happened, for unknown reasons. Now Brenet is still faced with a departure.

The same applies to Gijs Smal, who was already known that he would transfer to Feyenoord. Van Wolfswinkel is open to a longer stay, but still has to reach an agreement contractually with Twente.

That has already been resolved with Sadilek, Van Hoorenbeeck, Tyton, Issam El Maach and Sam Karssies. All options in their expiring contracts are being exercised. Van Hoorenbeeck was hired from KV Mechelen and has now been taken over permanently. According to Tubantia the Belgian defender will sign in Enschede until mid-2027.
