Chelsea defender Antonio Rüdiger was sent from training by trainer Thomas Tuchel on Sunday. According to The Telegraph the German mandekker had a fight with keeper Kepa Arrizabalaga during a game. Because Rüdiger has now apologized, he does not seem to have to fear a further penalty and can just take action against FC Porto in the quarter-finals of the Champions League on Wednesday.

On Saturday, a run of fourteen games in a row came to an end without a defeat under Tuchel. An early red card from Thiago Silva led to the 2-5 defeat against West Bromwich Albion. Sun stood the Blues back on the training field. According to reports, Rüdiger would have used a late tackle on Kepa during a game game. The goalkeeper reacted angrily, after which both players pushed each other. Because Rüdiger did not calm down, Tuchel decided to expel him from training. Kepa, on the other hand, just finished the training.

Tuchel has reportedly put a line under the incident. Rüdiger has apologized for his behavior and the trainer seems to be happy with that. According to English media, the incident is characteristic of the current atmosphere in the Chelsea selection. Tension seems to have risen with the current number four of the Premier League, as is also apparent from a fierce discussion between César Azpilicueta and Reece James in the dressing room after the defeat against West Brom.

After the defeat, Tuchel already showed that it was time to be ‘honest’ with each other in the dressing room. “It will be a tough afternoon and evening for everyone,” he said. “But we have to stay calm and breathe easy. This is our first defeat. We have to deal with this together. ” Evaluating the defeat with the group of players postponed Tuchel for a while. “It was too emotional. There was too much frustration and that is not productive. ”
