Thomas Tuchel hopes to bring Mason Mount to Bayern Munich next summer. The trainer, recently appointed to succeed Julian Nagelsmann, worked with Mount for 18 months at Chelsea and is aware of his contract deadlock in London. Mount could be picked up at Stamford Bridge next summer for an amount of at least 50 million pounds, the equivalent of 57 million euros.

Mount is with Chelsea until mid-2024, but does not seem to be renewing his contract. The summer transfer window would then be the last moment for the Blues to leave a substantial transfer amount to the 24-year-old Englishman, who was twice named club player of the year. Mount was regarded by Tuchel as a key player in his time at Chelsea, which lasted 18 months and led to a 2021 Champions League win.

Although Chelsea seems to have inexhaustible resources since the acquisition of the American billionaire Todd Boehly – the Londoners spent more than 300 million on winter purchases in January – Financial Fair Play plays a role in the background. Chelsea can use a large transfer proceeds to stay within UEFA’s financial regulations.

Tuchel was sacked from Chelsea on September 7 and surprisingly started a contract with Bayern last week. The German manager therefore hopes to be able to perform as the first major transfer acquisition in a few months and is also working in the background to expand his technical staff. Bayern are currently attempting to sign Chelsea assistant coach Anthony Barry.
