Alexander Sörloth is possibly facing a top transfer to the Bundesliga. Trabzonspor confirmed on Saturday afternoon via official channels that RB Leipzig had made a bid for the sensation of the Süper Lig. Sörloth, who is appointed by Trabzonspor of Crystal Palace, set his eye on a move to Germany and to the surprise of his club did not appear on the training ground on Friday.

The possible arrival of Sörloth is a complicated operation for RB Leipzig. The semi-finalist of last Champions League season must first reach an agreement with Crystal Palace; the English apparently turned down a bid of around EUR 22 million at the beginning of this month. If it is possible to reach an agreement with Crystal Palace, RB Leipzig will also have to secure a construction with Trabzonspor. After all, the Süper Lig club hires Sörloth on paper until the end of the 2020/21 season. His contract at Selhurst Park expires a year later.

Trabzonspor included a call option of 6.5 million euros in the lease. Crystal Palace have been asking the Süper Lig club for the past few days what they are doing with Sörloth, as he could now be sold to RB Leipzig for a lot of money. In any case, Trabzonspor does not want to be left empty-handed. Last season, Sörloth was of great value to the club and he scored 33 goals in 49 official matches. He scored 24 times in the Süper Lig to become Turkey’s leading scorer. The expectations for the next season are consequently high.

Reported earlier this week Photomac that RB Leipzig caused frustration at Trabzonspor and turned to Crystal Palace in particular in the negotiations over the 24-year-old striker. Now it is clear that the Bundesliga club has also made a proposal to Trabzonspor. The runner-up in Turkey last season reports that the ‘club interest’ is the most important consideration when deciding whether to accept the offer or not. The question is whether Sörloth can ask himself for a longer stay at Trabzonspor, because he apparently wants to force a switch.

Sörloth was with the Norwegian national team this month for the Nations League matches against Austria (1-2 defeat) and Northern Ireland (1-5 victory, two goals from Sörloth) and then had himself tested for the coronavirus. He was due to receive the test results on Thursday and fly to Turkey on Friday, but Trabzonspor reported that he did not show up. A sanction seems imminent. “Our player assured us that he would be in Trabzon on September 11, but he is not there today. So we are starting a disciplinary procedure, as our guidelines state.” The former FC Groningen striker can give the choice of RB Leipzig with an important impetus, after the departure of Timo Werner to Chelsea and the deceased mercenary Patrik Schick.
