Paris Saint-Germain is seriously in the market for Tanguy Ndombélé, the well-informed reports The Athletic. The 25-year-old midfielder of Tottenham Hotspur can work on a rental basis in the French capital until the end of the season. PSG coach Mauricio Pochettino has approved the rental deal, which also includes an option to buy.

Ndombélé was presented in 2019 as the most expensive purchase in club history at Tottenham Hotspur. An amount of sixty million euros was transferred to Olympique Lyon for this. Pochettino was then the manager of the Spurs and was one of the major proponents of the purchase, which would ultimately turn out badly for Londoners. Ndombélé has not been able to convince at Tottenham in two and a half years and is now even training separately from the A-selection.

Pochettino is still an admirer of the French midfielder and wants to give him another chance at PSG. The Parisians are looking for reinforcements in the middle line, because there are doubts about Georginio Wijnaldum, says The Athletic. Since his transfer-free arrival last summer, the the Dutch international has had great difficulty claiming a decisive role in the French superpower.

A transfer from Ndombélé to PSG is realistic, especially because the seven-time French international also sees the transition himself. Ndombélé grew up in the suburbs of Paris and knows that PSG have been after him for a long time. The club already made a futile attempt in 2020 to hijack him from Tottenham. Ndombélé is on 91 official matches for the English club, in which he produced 10 goals and 9 assists.
