Everton and Tottenham Hotspur shared the points in a football fight on Friday evening. Harry Kane delivered a new top performance with two goals the Spurs, but also two goals from Gylfi Sigurdsson left Everton a point: 2-2. Tottenham will be concerned about Kane, who dropped out with an ankle injury in injury time in the second half. Number seven Tottenham and number eight Everton make little difference in the battle for a Champions League ticket.
The first chance of the match was created in the 23rd minute by James Rodríguez with a beautiful pass to Richarlison, who fired straight at Hugo Lloris. Four minutes later it was hit on the other side for Kane, who perfectly controlled a half-high pass from the left and completed with a left in full: 0-1. It took another four minutes for Everton to return, when James was tapped by Sergio Reguilón. Gylfi Sigurdsson fired in the penalty kick: 1-1.
In the remainder of the first half, the chances were for Everton. After an interception in the build-up, Sigurdsson put teammate James to work, who found Lloris’s fingertips in his way. In injury time, Ben Godfrey headed over from a cross from James. After the break, Tottenham appeared better. Heung-Min Son fired at Jordan Pickford’s feet from an awkward angle, while a threatening shot from Tanguy Ndombele ricocheted off and went just over. Toby Alderweireld saw a header from a corner kick hit the outside of the post.
After the three chances for Tottenham, it was Everton’s turn, who first saw a goal from Richarlison rejected due to offside. After more than an hour of play, Everton took the lead when Sigurdsson finished a pass from Richarlison with a half volley: 2-1. Thanks to Kane, Tottenham managed to come back six minutes later. The striker got the ball fortunately after a misunderstanding between Michael Keane and Mason Holgate and suddenly pulled out: 2-2. Kane was then close with a header, which touched the outside of the post. Everton could have won in the final stages, but Joshua King shot Lloris and Richarlison aimed the rebound wildly.
