Willem II knows the potential opponent in the play-offs of the Europa League, should the Tilburgers on Thursday, September 24th settle with Rangers FC in the third qualifying round of the second European club tournament. Coach Adrie Koster’s team, in the second preliminary round too strong 0-5 for the Luxembourg Progrès Niedercorn, will face the winner of the match between Galatasaray and Hajduk Split in the third qualification round.

Willem II will play on his own field against Galatasaray or Hajduk Split, should there be a win from Rangers FC next Thursday, the draw of Friday afternoon showed. The home game in the play-offs is scheduled for Thursday, October 1. A day later, on Friday 2 October, the draw for the group stage of the Europa League will follow immediately. It is not yet known when the game will start in two weeks. Rangers FC stumbles upon Willem II thanks to the 0-5 victory over Lincoln Red Imps FC from Gibraltar on Thursday-evening.

Galatasaray was 1-3 too strong for Neftchi Baku from Azerbaijan in the second qualifying round on Thursday evening. Hajduk Split managed to beat FK Renova from northern Macedonia with minimal numbers: 0-1. Galatasaray won the UEFA Cup, the forerunner of the Europa League, in 2000. In the final in Copenhagen, Arsenal won after taking penalty kicks.
