Tonny Vilhena has left the training camp of the Dutch national team, as a result of a positive corona test. Immediately after the results of the test, Vilhena went back home, the KNVB announced on Tuesday evening. He is free of complaints and is now quarantined, according to RIVM guidelines. For the time being, the selection is not completed, so it consists of 23 players.

At every training camp, the KNVB adheres to extensive protocols to prevent contamination and players and staff are frequently tested, according to the KNVB website. For example, immediate action can be taken in case of a positive test. The player or staff member in question is immediately isolated so that further contamination can be prevented.

Press conference Frank de Boer: ‘Ryan Babel is an example’

Based on the announcement of the KNVB, it is not excluded that a midfielder will still be brought to Zeist. Kevin Strootman is one of the midfielders who has dropped out of the pre-selection. Vilhena was not there in recent years, but De Boer had taken on the fifteen-time international of Orange. Vilhena made his last minutes as an international in 2018: in the Nations League match against Germany (2-2), the ex-Feyenoord player came in for half an hour.

The Orange squad will play an exhibition game against Spain on Wednesday. The kick-off starts at 20:45 in the Johan Cruijff ArenA. On Sunday, November 15, Bosnia and Herzegovina will be a guest in Amsterdam for a game in the Nations League (6:00 PM). On Wednesday, November 18, the Dutch national team will close the Nations League group stage in Chorzów, where Poland will be the opponent from 8:45 PM.
