Tim Wiese is no longer welcome at Werder Bremen for the time being, various German media report. The Bundesliga club has decided to impose a stadium ban on the former goalkeeper. Moreover, Wiese, who played 266 times on behalf of Bremen between 2005 and 2012, is no longer allowed to play for the All Star team. Wiese fell out of favor with the club after being spotted with right-wing extremists in public and on the internet. He did not waive that.

DeichStube, a large Werder Bremen supporters platform, writes that things went wrong around the home game against Bayer Leverkusen on March 12. Wiese appeared in public around that duel with a number of right-wing extremists. Werder has always expressed his aversion to the population group and had also counted on Wiese to distance himself. The latter did not happen initially. The former goalkeeper later said he was not aware of any harm. The stock seemed to be over with that.

According to a post in the Weser Kurier Wiese would do everything to restore the relationship with Werder. For example, he is said to have been ‘purified’ and intends to work against right-wing extremism in Germany. The photos that circulated are said to have been merely ‘a chance encounter’. Others do not believe the words of the German and claim that the images are part of a real image campaign by Wiese.

“It is difficult to prove what I take for granted: I was not and am not and will never be a member of a politically extreme camp. Neither on the right nor on the left,” said the former professional footballer recently in conversation with BILD. “I am a big fan of multiculturalism and experience it every day within my circle of friends. Right-wing ideas or racist behavior are completely foreign to me.”

Werder initially took Wiese’s expression of regret to heart and indicated that it wanted to restore the relationship with the former player, but that is now coming back. The club has still decided to impose a stadium ban for the duration of several years. In addition, he is no longer allowed to play on the All Star team. Wiese was under contract with Werder between 2005 and 2012 and played 266 official games during that period. Among other things, he managed to win the cup.
