The Ajax supporters association calls on fans not to buy tickets via the internet for the match with Borussia Dortmund, which is scheduled for next Tuesday in the context of the Champions League. The match in the Johan Cruijff ArenA is officially sold out, but tickets are still offered via, for example, Marktplaats. Interested supporters, however, have to dig very deep into their pockets to purchase a ticket in this way.

Members of the Ajax supporters’ association were able to purchase the last three thousand tickets for the match against Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday via the official route. Before them, season ticket holders had already had the opportunity to buy extra tickets and apparently people have abused this. Screenshots of advertisements on Marktplaats are being circulated on social media, where, for example, four hundred euros is asked for two tickets.

“It is of course not the intention that people abuse having a ticket by offering it on Marktplaats. Yet this does happen. Unfortunately. We see many screenshots of conversations with these sellers, who justify for themselves that they offer these tickets for four hundred euros or (much) more,” writes the Ajax supporters association on its website. “There are also various ticket agencies/platforms, such as Viagogo and Ticketswap, where tickets are offered.”

The Ajax supporters’ association warns that much higher prices are charged on these platforms than were charged via official ticket sales. “In addition, it is even questionable whether buyers are not being scammed, so be careful! Supporters association Ajax regrets that some people want to earn money over the back of Ajax players by scoring a ticket and then offering it for a multiple on Marktplaats. Resale is also a thorn in the side of Ajax and, moreover, not allowed.”
