Manuel Neuer made a vehement revelation via Instagram on Wednesday. The 36-year-old goalkeeper has had skin cancer in his face and has already had to undergo surgery three times. For that reason, the closing post is also launching care products to draw attention to sun protection.

Neuer reports via his social media that he is now healthy again. Nevertheless, he believes it is important to bring these types of health problems to light. “I always train outside and I also like to be in nature in my spare time. For us, a modern sun protection filter and a sun protection factor of 50+ is essential.” His new care line Newkee meets these requirements.

Neuer is launching the brand together with top tennis star Angelique Kerber, who struggles with hyperpigmentation due to constant sun exposure. “We both have our own history when it comes to skin diseases.” Neuer himself is currently battling a shoulder injury and is working hard on his recovery to be fit in time for the World Cup in Qatar. The 113-time international is expected to be there in November.

Germany opens the World Cup on November 23 with a game against Japan. Next up is a game against Spain, after which the group stage ends with a game against Costa Rica. For Neuer it is his seventh final tournament with the Germans. In the 113 games he kept, he kept 47 clean sheets. His highlight for Germany was the 2014 World Cup final, in which Neuer also kept a clean sheet and former PSV player Mario Götze scored the winning goal in extra time.
