Borussia Dortmund fans are getting ready for their club’s championship game on Saturday afternoon. Images circulating on social media show thousands of supporters on their feet and walking towards the Signal Iduna Park for the game against 1. FSV Mainz 05, which starts at 3.30 pm.
Dortmund can win the German national title for the first time since 2012 on Saturday. BVB can thus end the reign of Bayern Munich, which has been champion for the past ten seasons. When Dortmund manages to beat Mainz at home, it is no longer even dependent on the result of number two Bayern visiting 1. FC Köln.
The administrator of Dortmund’s Twitter account already announced on Saturday morning that the tension is good. “When your buddy writes to you at 6:15 that he is waiting for you. A good nine hours before kick-off,” the manager said with a screenshot of the message. The tweet is followed a few minutes later by a video showing that a large crowd has already gathered around the Signal Iduna Park. “Apparently a good idea.” One thing can be concluded from the images: Dortmund is ready for a true folk festival.
