The line-up of Bayern Munich for the duel with RB Leipzig has been announced. Trainer Thomas Tuchel has a basic place in his starting line-up for both Noussair Mazraoui and Matthijs de Ligt. Daley Blind and Ryan Gravenberch have to make do with a place on the bench. The match starts at 6:30 p.m. and can be viewed on via play.

At Bayern, Yann Sommer starts under the crossbar. The defense, from right to left, is formed by Mazraoui, Benjamin Pavard, De Ligt and João Cancelo. Joshua Kimmich is the defensive midfielder on duty. The Germany international sees Jamal Musiala (right) and Kingsley Coman (left) cover the wings. Leon Goretzka and Thomas Müller are behind striker Serge Gnabry.

Bayern enters the game with a good feeling after the 6-0 win over Schalke 04, but knows that Leipzig is an opponent of a different calibre. Tuchel has to withstand it those Roten Bulls without Manuel Neuer, Lucas Hernández, Alphonso Davies and Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting, but does have Sommer at his disposal. The Swiss goalie struggled with illness this week, but recovered in time. Bayern managed to find the net in its last 56 (!) home games in the Bundesliga. Leipzig was the last team at the beginning of 2020 the record master prevented from scoring in the Allianz Arena (0-0). Earlier this season, the mutual meeting ended in 1-1 after goals from Choupo-Moting and Marcel Halstenberg.

Leipzig will probably still be recovering from last week’s spectacular victory against Werder Bremen. For a long time, coach Marco Rose’s team seemed on its way to a 0-1 defeat, but two goals in the absolute final phase turned the tide completely: 2-1. Thanks to that victory, Leipzig is one three-pointer away from qualifying for the group stage of the Champions League. Rose cannot have access to Péter Gulácsi, so former Heraclied Janis Blaswich once again defends the goal. Leipzig crossed swords with Bayern sixteen times in all competitions and only managed to win once. In the 2017/18 season, the East Germans recorded a 2-1 win. Six times it was equal and nine times Bayern won.

Lineup Bayern Munich: Summer; Mazraoui, Pavard, De Ligt, Cancelo; Kimmich, Goretzka; Coman, Muller, Musiala; Gnabry.

Line-up RB Leipzig: Blaswich; Simakan, Orban, Gvardiol, Halstenberg; Szoboszlai, Laimer, Haidara, Olmo; Silva, Nkunku.
