PSV has good hopes of permanently acquiring Sergiño Dest from FC Barcelona, general manager Marcel Brands confirms in NOS Studio Football. PSV can permanently sign the 23-year-old wing defender for a fee of approximately ten million euros, but must reach an agreement with Dest on his personal conditions.

Dest is currently playing on a rental basis at the Philips Stadium to the great satisfaction of PSV. The club negotiated an option to purchase in the deal with Barcelona last year.

Presenter Sjoerd van Ramshorst drops the amount of ten million euros. “Yes, that's right,” Brands confirms. “The option is fixed. We are in discussions with Sergiño and his agent.” Van Ramshorst wants to know whether things are going in the right direction. “Yes,” it sounds.

PSV would have liked to sign Dest permanently last summer, but that turned out to be impossible. “Sergiño didn't want that at the time. He wanted to see if he would like it. We also had to convince him.”

Dest now feels completely at home in Eindhoven. “He has actually become more and more enthusiastic as the season has gone on. He is having a great time, is popular in the group, including with the supporters. That is why he wants to talk to us about the future.”

Dest suffered a nasty knee injury during training at PSV on Saturday. “We don't know exactly how serious it is yet,” says Brands. “We will know more on Monday, but it didn't look good. It was a bit of a strange moment in training, not even in a duel.”

For PSV, a possible serious injury does not necessarily have to stand in the way of a transfer. “We have to wait and see what happens, but on the other hand: we believe in Sergiño as a player and I assume that he will be fit again, so we would very much like to keep him at PSV.”
