West Ham United and Leicester City are battling for Wesley Fofana to join. Days after his club Saint-Étienne rejected a EUR 32 million offer from Leicester City, West Ham United Sky Sports reported with a bid of 25 million euros plus 11 million in variables. It is unclear whether Saint-Étienne has already responded to that offer.

West Ham United is still scoreless in the new Premier League season after two games and considers defensive reinforcement necessary to increase the chances of preservation. Attempts to take over Burnley’s James Tarkowski were unsuccessful, leading the London club to join the fight for Fofana. The only nineteen-year-old Frenchman became a basic player at his club last season and played three of the four league games in the current season.

Tuesday skewed L’Équipe that Leicester City saw a third offer for Fofana rejected. The number five of the last Premier League season has made offers of 25, 28.5 and 32 million euros. The latest offer also included a ten percent resale rate, but Saint-Étienne is adamant for now.

Still, the question is whether Fofana is tenable for the French, as he openly hints at a transfer. Earlier this month, the center-back said it would be ‘insane’ to decline a transfer to Leicester City. A move to King Power Stadium could “change his life,” Fofana said L’Équipe. His contract with Saint-Étienne will run for four more seasons.

Fofana also hinted his departure wish on social media, which resulted in a flood of reactions. He then decided to delete his social media accounts. “It hurt me to be called a mercenary, a traitor and an asshole. But the Saint-Étienne supporters also insulted my mother and my little sister. That hurts me a lot.

“Some went even further,” he added. “My little sister was visited at school. She was called names and pushed. She doesn’t know anything about football, but she had to deal with this. I saw her in tears. It’s unacceptable. Then I took her to school. victim of a bunch of idiots. Their behavior influenced my decision. “
