Theo Janssen does not expect that he will be used as an analyst in Champions League matches on next season RTL7. The analyst has been asked for this role by the broadcaster, but he prefers other activities. Janssen recently extended his contract with the NOS, where it can be seen at Studio Football and during the upcoming European Championship that has been postponed by a year due to the corona crisis.

“But Theo, are you not going to do the Champions League at RTL next year?”, Presenter Jan Joost van Gangelen asks on Friday in the morning show of Radio Veronica Janssen’s answer is clear: “No, that chance is not great. They asked me for it. Humberto (Tan, ed.) Will of course present, they have asked me to be one of the analysts. Only I get the best quite busy at the NOS. The European Championship is coming with many matches and Sundays. Then I also have a different position at Vitesse, so I have to do things for the club in the evenings. Yes, then it will be so much, then I am away from home so much. Anyone who knows me knows that that is not for me, I also want to be at home and with my family “, said the former midfielder of Vitesse and Ajax, among others.

“So just to be clear: at the NOS you will continue to do Studio Voetbal anyway. And will you also play a major role at the European Championship?”, Van Gangelen adds. “I am certainly involved in the European Championship and also in the World Cup (of 2022, ed.)”, Janssen explains subsequently. “During the European Championship I am on the screen every other day. But that is also logical, because there are plenty of matches of course.” Van Gangelen is pleased that Janssen has taken on the role of analyst after his active career. “I think it is nice that you have become such a public broadcaster boy. Really a bit neat.”

At the end of the conversation, Janssen ventures a prediction for Sunday, when his great love Vitesse takes on Ajax in the final of the TOTO KNVB Cup. “That will be a draw and then Vitesse wins with penalties”, predicts the former playmaker of the Arnhem cup finalist. “I hope for a nice long evening where we are all on the edge of our seats. With Vitesse as the winner, I am super satisfied”, Janssen concludes.
