Memphis Depay questions the mentality of some teammates at Olympique Lyon. In an interview with Téléfoot the attacker suggests that not everyone will les Gones is equally motivated to take big prizes; Depay admits that he cannot say everything, but his cryptic answers are seen in France as a sign that he is dissatisfied with the mentality of some of his fellow players.

Olympique Lyon will play at home against Saint-Étienne on Sunday at 9 p.m. and in the run-up to the Derby du Rhône Depay puts things on edge. He expresses the ambition to become national champion with Olympique Lyon, although the team seems quite far from that ambition. Olympique Lyon is in tenth place, ten points behind leader Paris Saint-Germain. Depay and his associates did play a game less. “The title? That should be our goal, but I can’t say everything that’s going through my mind right now,” said Depay.

“What’s going on, what I see happening at the club … There are things I can’t be honest about. But the league title should motivate everyone who comes to Olympique Lyon, because it’s a big club. People have to realize that. Every player who comes to this club has to realize that “, Depay emphasizes. “You come here to win big prizes. That mentality should be there anyway.”

Depay’s statements offer little hope for the club management that the captain of Orange will stay longer. He has an expiring contract and is explicitly associated with Barcelona. In the past transfer period, Ronald Koeman’s club failed to pull Depay from Lyon, but a new attempt in January or after the season is realistic.
