A candid Cristiano Ronaldo has in an extensive interview with Sky Sports told about people who hate him, the continuation of his international career and his outburst of anger after the draw against Everton (1-1). The Portuguese superstar has no intention of taking a step back just yet and hopes to play for the trophies with Manchester United this season. “I’m going to silence a lot of people,” Ronaldo said confidently.

The attacker believes it will take time for United to return to normal performance. The team of manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has had a mixed season so far and has to settle for sixth place in the Premier League. “We are in a phase where some important changes have taken place,” Ronaldo noted. “The club bought me, Raphaël Varane and Jadon Sancho. That adjustment takes time, but also the system in which we play now. But I think we have to realize step by step that everything is possible.”

Ronaldo grabbed another lead in the Champions League this week by helping United with a header past Atalanta (3-2). “In the Champions League, I have the most goals, the most wins, the assists…everything. But I want to continue. I like football. I feel good to make people happy,” said the Portuguese. “Quit as an international? It’s not my time to take a step back yet. Why? It’s not what people want, it’s not what I want. I feel I’m still capable of sprinting, dribbling and I don’t think about that until the power is gone, but I still have it.”

The star player emphasizes that he has returned to win trophies with United. “I know when the team needs my defense,” he says. “My role in the club is to win, help the team and score goals. Defending is also part of my job. The people who don’t want to see that don’t like me. But to be honest, I’m 36 , I win everything so I’m not going to worry about the people who say bad things about me I sleep well at night and go to bed with a clear conscience Those people should keep doing that because I will have many more shut up.”

Criticism is part of the business, says Ronaldo. “I’m not worried about that. And I see it as a good thing to be honest. If people are worried about me or talking about me, it’s because they still know my potential and value in football. So it’s is good I will give you an example: if you are in a school and you are the best student, the worst student will always say he doesn’t like you i think the most important thing is that i’m still happy and from football enjoy.”
