The arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo could turn out to be good for Manchester United in several ways. The Athletic knows Monday morning to report that Paul Pogba is leaning towards a longer stay at Old Trafford, now that he is on the training field daily with the Portuguese star player. There has been doubt for some time about Pogba’s stay, who the Red Devils has started his final year of contract.

Pogba is reportedly impressed with Manchester United’s transfer activity in the summer transfer window. In addition to Ronaldo, Jadon Sancho and Raphaël Varane were also added to manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s roster. The now 28-year-old midfielder thinks the superpower can seriously compete for the trophies this season, making contract extension a serious option for him for Pogba. Not so long ago, the Frenchman’s departure from Manchester seemed only a matter of time.

The 87-time international of France was mentioned by various foreign media at both Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain. The Royal however, went for Eduardo Camavinga, while PSG according to The Athletic did enough to snatch Pogba from Manchester United. A longer stay in England is therefore certainly worth considering for the midfielder. It is not yet known when agent Mino Raiola will join the Manchester United board to discuss the future.

Pogba has had an energetic start to the new season in the Premier League, with no fewer than seven assists in the first four league games. Solskjaer usually uses him as a controlling midfielder, alongside Fred or Nemanja Matic. Bruno Fernandes recently played as an attacking midfielder. Pogba and Manchester United start the group stage of the Champions League on Tuesday, with Young Boys as the first opponent in Switzerland.
