Erik ten Hag has in an interview with Sports Image responded to Borussia Dortmund’s alleged interest in Ajax striker Sébastien Haller. On Tuesday evening, a rumor came out that the Ivorian international would be in the picture at Dortmund as a candidate for the striker position when Erling Braut Haaland is sold after this season. Ten Hag says he is not aware of the Bundesliga club’s plans, but emphasizes that attracting Haller can be expensive.

“I do not know Dortmund’s plans,” Ten Hag responds when asked about Borussia Dortmund’s alleged interest in Haller. “Given the class of Sebastian, I do not rule out that he could be an interesting player for Borussia Dortmund. What I can say: it would be very expensive.” Ajax took over Haller from West Ham United in January of this year for 22.5 million euros. The 27-year-old striker is under contract in Amsterdam until mid-2025.

In addition to Haller, according to the German football magazine, Karim Adeyemi of Red Bull Salzburg is also in the picture as a possible successor to Haaland. However, the question is whether Adeyemi is feasible for Borussia Dortmund. The 19-year-old Red Bull Salzburg striker, for whom he scored 21 goals and 17 assists in 66 official games, made his debut in the German national team last month and is coveted by almost the entire European top. In addition to Borussia Dortmund, Liverpool and Barcelona were also mentioned as interested clubs for Adeyemi, which must cost €30 million.

Dortmund’s alleged interest in Haller comes at a salient moment. Ajax will take on the number three of the Bundesliga next Tuesday in the context of the Champions League. The return will take place in Signal Iduna Park on 3 November.
