Ajax watcher Mike Verweij has in a podcast of The Telegraph shed light on the possible arrival of Kamaldeen Sulemana to Amsterdam. The FC Nordsjaelland attacker has been high on Ajax’s wish list for a long time. Football affairs director Marc Overmars and chief scout Henk Veldmate sat in the stands in Denmark earlier this week to see the target live at work. Verweij does not know whether Ajax is able to attract Sulemana.

Ajax already wanted to attract Sulemana in January, but Nordsjaelland did not let him go at the time. According to the newspaper, Overmars has now had several conversations with Sulemana in the hope of convincing him to choose Ajax. The Ghanaian attacker is reportedly also in the interest of Manchester United and Bayer Leverkusen. According to The Sun Scout Tommy Möller Nielsen sat in the stands on behalf of United on Monday evening to see Sulemana at work in the match against FC Copenhagen (2-2). The English top club would reportedly want to pay 17.5 million euros to attract Sulemana.

“If you see that Donny van de Beek, who was simply one of the best players in the Eredivsie, is not yet successful at Manchester United, then I think it is very unwise for Sulemana to go in that direction,” says Verweij. “But it will drive up the price. And whether Ajax is able to lay down a lot for him in this time of corona … That will be very difficult. The price we initially heard was six, seven million. But when you hear that United might be willing to pay twenty million euros for it … That seems very strong for a guy who has not yet proven himself very much in Denmark. But I also don’t know what Ajax can pay. It will be a dime on its side, I think. ”

Ten Hag spoke at a press conference on Friday about the possible arrival of Sulemana. “He is an attractive player who is technically skilled and goes on an adventure and has a lot of speed. We now have to see if we can materialize his arrival”, said the trainer. Nineteen-year-old Sulemana will be stuck near Nordsjaelland until the end of December 2024.
