Ruben van Bommel, the youngest son of Mark van Bommel, has no complaints about interest. It was already known that ‘more than half of the Eredivisie’ was interested in the eighteen-year-old winger from MVV Maastricht. Feyenoord and PSV, among others, would have inquired about Van Bommel, while he had been in the interest of clubs such as AZ, Vitesse, FC Twente and FC Utrecht for some time.

TC Tubantiajournalist Leon ten Voorde is aware of the interest of the Tukkers in Van Bommel. “AZ now seems to be seriously in the market for that,” says the FC Twente watcher in the podcast The Balls Mind. “Then it will be very difficult for Twente. Van Bommel will not cost the whole world, because he now plays on an amateur basis and will sign a contract with MVV because he does not want to leave MVV on a free transfer. That is very pleasing to him. That will not cost you the main prize.”

According to Ten Voorde, it remains to be seen which interested club Van Bommel sees the best prospects. “For many players, AZ still has an edge in terms of development. If you look at his statistics and his game, I think that with his talent he can be a serious candidate for the base at FC Twente,” said the journalist.

Van Bommel played in the youth of SV Meerssen, PSV and MVV, before making his official debut in the first team at the latter club in August 2022. It is now impossible to imagine the starting eleven of the current number seven in the Kitchen Champion Division. This season, the counter stands at 31 official matches for Van Bommel, in which he scored 14 times and acted as a declarant 5 times.

The Telegraph reported last week that PEC Zwolle defender Thomas Beelen is also on Twente’s radar. The mandekker already played a year in the youth academy of the Enschede people in the past. “It is a late bloomer, who has broken through this year”, Ten Voorde indicates. It is a very interesting player. But that is a boy with an ongoing contract. They already cost a lot of money. FC Twente is really not the only one club interested in him.”
