Borussia Dortmund won for the third time in a row at the basic debut of Sébastien Haller on Sunday evening. Karim Adeyemi opened the score on a visit to Bayer Leverkusen after a flashy attack over several discs, after which an own goal by Edmond Tapsoba determined the final score at 0-2. Dortmund benefits from the loss of points by leader Bayern Munich against Eintracht Frankfurt. Those Boruses coming in at 34 points, just three less than the record master.

Sébastien Haller already received half an hour of playing time from his trainer Edin Terzic during the recent victories over FC Augsburg (4-3) and 1. FSV Mainz (1-2). The trainer of BVB thought the striker against Leverkusen was ready for his first starting place. This was at the expense of Youssoufa Moukoko, the eighteen-year-old top talent who has still not renewed his expiring contract. Donyell Malen also had to settle for a spot on the reserve bench.

Dortmund took the lead after more than half an hour through a flashy attack. Julian Brandt entered into a combination with Jude Bellingham, after which Haller was sought in the sixteen-meter area. However, the French-Ivorian striker let the ball go through his legs, after which Adeyemi was able to slide in outlaw: 0-1. The visitors managed to double the margin early in the second half, after Tapsoba clumsily shot the ball behind his own goalkeeper: 0-2. The victory for Dortmund was then no longer in danger. Sardar Azmoun had a serious chance on the connection goal, but saw his effort go just over the bar.
