AC Milan gained nothing from the match against Atalanta. I Rossoneri seemed on their way to a point after a late equalizer from Luka Jovic, but deep into injury time Luis Muriel made it 3-2 with a beautiful backheel. Teun Koopmeiners played an important role in both the 1-0 and the 3-2. Thanks to the victory, Atalanta climbs to seventh place, while Milan unfortunately remains in third place.

On the Atalanta side, there were two Dutchmen in the starting line-up: Koopmeiners and Marten de Roon. Just like last week against Torino (3-0 defeat), the latter was not deployed in midfield, but as one of the three central defenders. Ademola Lookman and Charles De Ketelaere were the front pawns of trainer Gian Piero Gasperini. At Milan, Tijjani Reijnders was once again assured of a starting place. Theo Hernández started as center back, to make room for Alessandro Florenzi in the left back position.

Ten minutes before half-time, Atalanta opened the score. Koopmeiners won a duel and was thus allowed to take a throw-in. He took it very quickly, putting Lookman in a dangerous position. The striker cut and shot through the leg of a Milan defender behind the hopeless Mike Maignan: 1-0. A nice boost for Lookman, who missed a big opportunity early in the match.

At the other end, Hernández aimed for a shot that flew high over the hosts' goal. Yet Milan managed to strike before half time. Florenzi painted a corner on the head of Giroud, who showed that he was sitting on heads. His effort flew with a tight arc over Atalanta goalie Juan Musso and into the net: 1-1.

Milan took the good feeling after the break because shortly after the interruption, Giroud had another excellent opportunity. This time, on a pass from Ruben Loftus-Cheek, he shot disappointingly wide. A little later the goal was scored, albeit on the other side. De Ketelaere crossed tightly and saw his pass promoted to an assist by Lookman: 2-1.

Atalanta pressed and it was a small miracle that the 3-1 did not fall. Giorgio Scalvini made two excellent tackles and then saw his shot turned away by Maignan. On the rebound, the Frenchman made an excellent save on an attempt by Lookman, who shot wide again from close range. Moreover, they turned out to be very costly mistakes.

In Milan's next attack, Jovic was stopped, but Milan had the opportunity to mount another attack. After an excellent cross from the left by Christian Pulisic, the ball ended up with Jovic, who scored from close range to make it 2-2. To the disappointment of the fans, Gasperini took Lookman to the side and saw Milan defender Davide Calabria receive his second full card.

It seemed to stop there, but nothing turned out to be further from the truth. Koopmeiners played
Aleksey Miranchuk in the box, who in turn served Muriel. The Colombian scored with a beautiful backheel and gave Atalanta the victory: 3-2.
